Hello everyone! Well this is my first sports blog. And I am going to talk about how I feel this season has gone so far with the teams that are ranked in the top 10.
#1 Ohio State: They are very up and down. Some games they play awful against unranked teams. Today's example: Unranked Northwestern. They cannot win without Sullinger. I don't care how good Lighty is, they aren't Ohio State without Sullinger. If you've also counted how many close games they have won, you would realize that they won't escape forever. And come March, the same thing that happened to UK last year with Wall, might just happen with Sullinger. He is a freshman after all.
#2 Pitt: Also inconsistent, but in the hardest conference this season. Their two losses came from 2 talented teams: Tennessee and Notre Dame. Tennessee may not be ranked now, but when they played Pitt, they played like a top 10 team. And Notre Dame has been getting better as the season has gone on. So, Pitt still stays in my top 5.
#3 Duke: Pretty good. Not great, but still in my top 5. They are clearly not as good as they were with Kyrie Irving, who, before getting injured, was on his way to becoming player of the year. They were the clear favorites to win the championship. Then he got hurt. Well, Duke has done the best they can so far. They are having to find the lineup that works without really having any time to find it, hence the lineup changes almost every game. And their loss, well, they clearly got outplayed. It was the first time they had played anyone with FSU's size and length. And if you've noticed, they are getting much better. Once all those players stepping up in different games finally put it all together, Duke might be the favorite to cut down that championship net.
#4 SDSU: Well, they are okay. Not in a very strong conference if you ask me. A lot of no name teams belong in that conference. I mean, who have they played that is actually good. Like in the category of Big East teams....I don't really remember anyone on that schedule. Their loss is to an okay #9 BYU team. As for my top 5....they don't belong
#5 UConn: This team is pretty great. In my opinion, one that belongs in the talk for the championship. Have you guys seen Walker play? If Nolan Smith doesn't get player of the year, I'd want that award to go to Walker. He's a guy that can drop any shot at any time to make or break a game. And well, as for the rest of the team, they are good enough to win without his huge presence in the game. My top 5: Most definitely
#6 Kansas: A team that is highly overrated. They may have good players, but I don't personally see them going far. Texas may be good enough to beat them, but Texas is also one of the most incosistent teams I have seen. Kansas is the same way. The one night they play bad the other team plays great. I don't think inconsistent teams win championships, but that is just my opinion. They are not championship material.
#7 Villanova: I think they are a good team in a very strong conference. It may help them come March, so that they will know how to win big games. But being in a conference like the Big East may beat them down if they don't continue to do better in it. I personally believe them to be the second best team in the big east....Second to UConn. They have guys that can step it up, but will they? Who knows.
#8 Texas: I don't know what yet to think of this team. I don't think they are a top 10 team just because they beat Kansas. They played great 1 game. But does a 3 loss team belong in the top 10? No way. I know that 2 of their losses were to ranked teams, but I still don't see the greatness that use to belong in the top 10.
#9 Brigham Young: Okay, so they are a 1 loss team. They played what, 1 good team? They may have greatness in Fredette, but he won't always shoot great. He can't win every game for the team. So what happens when he has a game or two where he doesn't shoot well? Will they be able to win without him? I don't think so. So as for my top 5, they don't belong.
#10 Syracuse: They are a great team. I don't know why they have been down lately. I do have faith that they will come around though, and once they do, who knows what will happen? I know that they have lost a few lately, but, for me, they are still a top 5 team. Duke lost 5 games last year and still won the championship.
Well those are my feelings on the top 10. 4 out of my top 5 come out of the top 10. My #5 would be either Notre Dame or Purdue. It may sound crazy to you, but if you've seen how great they can play, you would know why it would be between those 2.
So....I can say that my #1, as of right now, is UConn. #2 belongs to Duke, #3 belongs to Pitt, #4 to Syracuse. What do you think?
